• The international civil aviation organization (ICAO) was created in 1944 as per the convention on international civil aviation. 52 countries signed the international agreement. • Canadian aviator, J.A.D. McCurdy, was the first person to undertake a controlled and powered flight in the British Empire. In 1909, he flew the "Silver Dart" aircraft, which was designed and built by the Canadian Aerial Experiment Association.
