Autumn Equinox HistoryAutumn Equinox (Southern Hemisphere) is one of two yearly phenomenon’s where the Sun is exactly above the Earths Equator, causing day and night to be nearly equal lengths. During this occurrence, the Earth’s axis is not pointing towards or away from the sun. After Autumn Equinox, the Earth begins to tilt away from the Sun, making nights longer and days shorter until Winter Solstice. Autumn Equinox occurs twice a year, usually in March and September.
