Queen's Birthday History

Queen's Birthday celebrates the birthday of the current Australian monarch. As a constitutional monarchy, the current Queen of Australia and the other Commonwealth Realms is Queen Elizabeth II. Although Queen Elizabeth II was born on 21 April, the date of the birthday celebration was never changed after her grandfather, King George V, passed away in 1936. King George V was born on 3 June.

Queen's Birthday is celebrated in Western Australia in late September or early October however the day is decided by proclaimed annually by the state's Governor. In most Australian states, Queen's Birthday is celebrated on the second Monday of June.
